Don't Buy Stuff You Don't Need is no laughing matter!

Why it is so hard to control our spending?

Maybe the government can help us....ha ha that's a joke and a discussion for another time.

While we have little control over the government's spending we do have control over our own!

It's true and don't think otherwise - even though you want to.

Try using the Google search for  'controlling your spending' - up will pop a zillion suggestions.  Whether you adopt the 7 ways or the 100 ways to control spending we have to start by admitting we have a problem!

I believe that all but the cash-flow saintly spend beyond their means from time to time.

(Definition of means:  The money and other resources that somebody has to live on.)

I was reminded recently of a very funny Saturday Night Live skit about this very subject. It's a classic Steve Martin and Amy Poehler moment!  It's so simple and true - that's why we have to laugh at the absurditiy of it all.

I'm not suggesting that we stop buying as we are an economy based on consumerism.  However buying on credit, especially items that depreciate faster in value than we can pay them off, just doesn't make good sense to me.

Now that I have your attention here is the link to the video  Don't Buy Stuff !

COMMENTS, SUGGESTIONS, IDEAS, INPUT.......WELCOMED!  Please share.

There's no time like the present!

Welcome!  This is the first edition of AdvisorOne Blog!  There is so much to talk about - which is my husband's worst nightmare, right?  However.....life is short and so is the money supply!
"What makes AdvisorOne qualified to give advice?"
So many reasons!!  First and foremost I love to tell people what to do.  And my advice is usually sound.  I have many years of counseling people, not only in terms of cash flow and money management, but in love and life and parenting and leaps of faith and jobs....you name it and it's likely that someone has dropped by my office or called me to get my opinion.  In fact I have a bracelet to prove it....WWDWD or what would Denise Wilcox do?  But I digress -

Enough about me let's talk about YOU!

Have you ever spent 30 minutes daydreaming about doing something crazy fun,  or realizing an objective, or about where you want to live or what you want to do?  GO AHEAD AND GIVE IT A TRY!  You know how!
And why do this?  Well because!

The first step in creating passion for managing your financial life begins with daydreams of oceans, or fresh powder, or the pines, or fishing.

Or tall mountains with snowy peaks that beckon you or schools of brightly colored fish swimming along side you in the ocean.

Or a colorful parachute lifting you up and over the mountain or the huge rapid that is rising up before you as the nose of your raft slaps up and over the top in an exhilirating free fall on the other side.

Whoa.......I just went into REM daydreaming!   Whatever your little heart desires you can start today to take incremental steps to move you towards THAT!

Yogi Berra said this:
“If you don't know where you are going, you might wind up someplace else.”
So get going - Daydream away.   Then write it down.  And share if you'd like.

Please - only family friendly daydreams here.

I'll be back - I hope you will be as well!
